Ancient Roman Civilization was a civilization that began on the Italian Peninsula as early as the 8th century BC.

Overview[]

Located along the Mediterranean Sea and centered on the city of Rome, the Roman Empire expanded to become one of the largest empires in the ancient world, with an estimated 50 to 90 million inhabitants (roughly 20% of the world's population) and covering 6.5 million square kilometers (2.5 million sq mi) during its height between the first and second centuries AD.

History[]

The Roman Kingdom was built in 753 B.C. . The first king of the Roman Kingdom was Romulus. In 509 B.C. , the Roman Republic replaced it. The Roman Republic ruled Italy for centuries. In 27 B.C. , Augustus became the first emperor of the Roman Empire. This year was marked as the beginning of the rule of the Roman Empire and the end of the rule of the Roman Republic.

In the following decades, the Roman Empire conquered many regions and became a very powerful state in South Europe.

However, during Emperor Lucius Domitius Ahenobarbus' reign, the Roman Empire became much weaker than before. Uprisings kept happening and the Italian Peninsula was invaded by barbarians. Luckily, Marius Titus killed the emperor and saved the Roman civilization. It is unknown what happened to the Roman Empire after that. The Roman Empire was probably overthrown and a new regime was built to replace it.

At the end of the game, it is implied that the Roman civilization survives to the modern ages. It is because in the final shot of Marius' Triumphal Memorial Column, one can see both a church and the intact Coliseum. It is also implied that Catholicism has taken over paganism's place and became the major religion in Roma.
